They released 13 studio albums, including “Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers” in 1976, which achieved gold status, then “Damn the Torpedoes” (1979), which achieved triple platinum in the US, “Into the Great Wide Open” in 1991, which achieved double platinum status, and the last album “Hypnotic Eye” (2014), which became their first No. 1 album on the US Billboard 200 chart.
