Who is Kelly O’Donnell?

Early life and education

Kelly’s grandparents from both her father’s and mother’s side are from Ireland, so there’s no doubt that she’s of Irish descent. One of her first notable jobs was in 1990 for WJW TV in Ohio, where she worked as a reporter and an anchor – WJW was still a CBS station back then, and Kelly worked with Martin Savidge who was a reporter for NBC. She was a regular on “The Chris Matthews Show” before the show was canceled, and also appeared on “Weekend Today” as a news anchor, while serving as a substitute host too, and helped the “Dateline NBC” magazine with articles. Some say that her biggest achievement in her work was when she was made a correspondent for NBC News at the White House – at that time it was George W. Bush’s second term, then after the 2008 elections, Kelly became the Capitol Hill correspondent.

Kelly didn’t only stay in US during her work – she went to Iraq with the 3rd Infantry Division, reporting from Baghdad and Qatar as well. Some of the other events on which Kelly reported include the 9/11 attacks, the disaster of space shuttle Columbia, the bombing of Oklahoma City, and the O.J. Simpson trial. She was the one to report Pope John Paul II’s death, while she also went to both summer and winter Olympic Games to report for NBC – she’s visited all 50 states, and all countries in both South and North America.
