Who is Kelly Ripa?

Kelly Maria Ripa is best known for her acting career, but is also a television producer and a talk program host. She was born in Stanford, New Jersey USA on 2 October 1970 to parents, Esther and Joseph Ripa, of Irish and Italian descent. Her mother is a homemaker and her father is a bus driver. Both Kerry and her younger sister named Linda were raised as Roman Catholic.

Education and appearance

Kelly attended and finished the four-year Eastern Regional High School in New Jersey, where she started experimenting with acting and therefore never graduated from university – she started studying at Camden County College, at that point in her life she was interested in psychology but later on quit to pursue her acting career. She is the only person in her family to be a part of the movie industry, and other than acting, she is a ballerina and she can also play the piano. Kelly has an amazing figure even at the age of 48. Jim Beckley, the drama tutor in Kelly’s high school, saw her potential and decided to put her in one of his shows. At that time, acting was not her main goal – instead, she wanted to be a newscaster, and was actually delivering news quite often. Her first big role and the one Kelly’s most proud of is as Hayley Vaughan in “All My Children” in 1990 – the show lasted for 12 years and finished in 2002; Kelly was invited back in 2010 for the celebration of the soap opera’s 40 anniversary. During those years, she also appeared in a couple of television films including “Someone to Love” and “Stand-In.”

Kelly had enough luck to be offered a role as co-host of the morning show called “Live!” in 2010 – Kathie Lee Gifford was about to quit her position and was looking for a replacement when she found Kelly. She turned out to be a great choice – in only a couple of months, the audience of the show increased by 80 percent, all the credit was given to Kelly. She and her friend – the host of the show, Philbin – managed to get an average of six million views every day. After being together on set for 11 years, in 2011 Philbin retired and left Kelly as the head of the show, after which it was rename – “Live! with Kelly”, later becoming “Live! with Kelly and Michael”, after Michael Strahan became her new co-host.

Kelly’s first love was Vincent Young, an actor from Philadelphia, but their relationship didn’t go for too long and she then started dating Mark Andrew Consuelos from Spain, who starred with her in “All My Children”. and could be described as love at first sight. They exchanged their vows on 1 May 1996 and in the upcoming years, Kelly gave birth to three babies – Michael Joseph was their first child, after him Lola Grace and then Joaquin Antonio.

Kelly and Mark together funded Milojo which is a production company, having a deal with Discovery Channel for some series which Kelly hosted. The company made its first short film in 2012, and while Kelly, her husband and their son Michael were featured in it. The short film was a medium success as it attracted over 1,000,000 views. There is a song dedicated to her called “Kelly Ripa” sung by the rock band from New Orleans – Cowboy Mouth. Kelly has been inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame. Kelly and Mark sold their penthouse in New York in May 2014 for $24.5 million.
