Who is Lee Chang-sub?
Lee Chang-sub was born on 26 February 1991, in Suwon Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, and is a singer, best known for being a member of the K-pop boy group called BtoB. He is the group’s lead singer, but has also done several solo music projects, and also appeared in reality television shows such as “King of Masked Singer”.

Early Life, Education, and Career Beginnings
Lee grew up in Suwon, and at a young age became highly interested in music, wanting to pursue a career in the industry. After matriculating from high school, he enrolled at Howon University which is known for being one of the most selective universities in the country. It was during this period that he met future bandmate Lim Hyunsik. At the time, he was already gaining a bit of attention for his music, as he won a competition at the 16th Suwon Music Festival. While studying, he was recruited by Cube Entertainment to train to become a future idol with BtoB. In 2012, they made their debut in Seoul and streamed it through an official YouTube channel. They then released their debut extended play (EP) called “Born to Beat”, which was primarily composed by the group members.
Success with BtoB
BtoB have made several releases since their debut. In 2014, they released their fourth EP called “Beep Beep”, which became their breakthrough in the music industry, reaching the top of the Gaon Album Chart, making it their first to do so. They then went on tour, before creating their next EP called “Move”. This popularity boost led them to their first solo concert, and they also signed with the Japan agency Kiss Entertainment for all their activities in Japan, and began holding events in the country.
The following year, they released their first full-length album “Complete”, and the title track “It’s Okay” reached the top of several music charts in the country. They then worked on their seventh EP, “I Mean” and by the years’ end, they got multiple nominations during the Seoul Music Awards and the Golden Disc Awards. However, in 2019, Changsub took a break from the group to fulfill mandatory military service in South Korea.
Solo Projects
While working with BtoB, numerous opportunities would come to Lee, thanks to the fame that came with his music. He became a contestant in the reality competition “King of Masked Singer”, portraying the contestant Mr. Wifi. He was also a cast member during a season of “Law of the Jungle”, for which they traveled to Mongolia.
He’s also participated in musicals, working on an adaptation of “Boys over Flowers”, starring in a production of “Napoleon”, and portraying “Edgar Allan Poe” in a musical of the same name. Other projects he’s worked on include “Dogfight” and “Iron Mask”.
Lee is the first member of his group to release a solo album, “bpm 82.5” in Japan, which contained the lead single “At the End”. A project called Piece of BTOB was then launched, featuring each member recording solo projects each month.
He also worked on a solo Korean album called “Mark”, which he recorded and released prior to his military service, mentioning that he wanted to complete the album as a gift to his fans. Following its release, he held his first solo concert at the Yes24 Live Hall in Gwangjin District. Personal Life
It is known that Changsub is single, still focused on his music and completing his military service. He hasn’t been public about any romantic relationships, which is a common theme among South Korean idols, although he’s mentioned that his ideal girl would be someone who is livelier than him, and doesn’t put on thick make-up.
