Quotes

‘When you get older, in the past especially, it has been harder to have a presence in a straight narrative. I think sci-fi and genre stuff in general has been more open to the Female Commander of a Spaceship, so you can have a bit of age and a bit of gravitas for that.’

‘I kind of found it later on. I remember as a child I was a bit of a ham, I would come up with characters and stuff but I watched my mother, she was a single mother raising two kids and she was a theater actor for a long time and I watched her go through a lot of pain, it was really hard. It was hard to have the income, it was hard to have the continuum so I remember as I young person I wanted to be an optometrist and then a lawyer, I wanted something very rational and very regulated.’
