Watney began her sports broadcasting career with the Boston Red Sox organization, serving as an on-field reporter for the Boston-based regional New England Sports Network (NESN), a joint venture of the Fenway Sports Group and Delaware North. Aside from the Red Sox, the groups also own the Liverpool Football Club, and the Boston Bruins hockey team. They are the primary broadcasters of the Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins, serving as the exclusive home for all games not televised by a national network.
During her time there, she served as the host of shows including “The Ultimate Red Sox Show”, and “The Red Sox Reports”. She also served with the radio station ESPN Radio 1430 KFIG, and did weekend sports anchor duties for the Fresno based station KMPH-TV. In 2011, she decided to leave NESN to take a position with the upcoming regional Time Warner Cable SportsNet as a sideline reporter.
